Sellers Takes Fifth at World Championships

Congratulations to Sabine Sellers for her fifth place finish at this year’s C.R.A.S.H. B World Indoor Rowing Championship! In a field of one hundred (100) lightweight junior women athletes from all over the world, Sabine finished with an impressive time of 7:40 for her 2000 meter race.

“This weekend was such an amazing experience,” recounted Sabine. “It was so cool to compete with all of the different athletes from the international community. I can’t wait to do it again next year! Also, I am so thankful for the coaching staff at NRC for everything! I will never be able to thank them enough for everything that they do!”

Although a bit disappointed with his own performance, NRC teammate Nathan Smith added, “Today wasn’t the performance I had hoped for, but I am very happy for Sabine and her fifth place finish. That is an incredible accomplishment and is the result of all the hard work she puts into the sport.”

Coach John Cohn agreed, “Sabine’s results are only a surprise to those who may not see her putting in the hours of work daily at the boathouse. Her attitude and work ethic are exemplary. It’s a treat to see her get the recognition she deserves and I know I speak for all of the coaches at Newport RC when I say how proud we are to coach Sabine.”

Congrats, Sabine! We are very happy for you!
