Program Details

Fall and Spring programs are $1500* per season. Varsity practices are 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. Novice** practices are 5 days a week, Tuesday-Saturday.

Monday - Friday (Varsity): 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Tuesday - Friday (Novice): 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Saturday (Varsity & Novice): 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Sept 28: Kings Head Regatta (Bridgeport, PA)

Oct 12: Navy Day Regatta (Philadelphia, PA)

Oct 26: Head of the Schuylkill (Philadelphia, PA)

Nov 8: Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta (West Windsor, NJ)

Regattas:

The High School Rowing program provides a fun, yet competitive and inclusive environment for athletes in 9th - 12th* grade looking to excel in the sport of rowing. Practices will primarily consist of training on the water; however NRC supports all aspects of athlete developing the minds, bodies, and character of student athletes. This includes training sessions focused not on strength, mobility, and fitness, but also teamwork, discipline, and resilience.

*8th grade athletes with two seasons of middle school rowing experience may row and compete with the high school team.

Rowers

  • Learn basic rowing techniques, power application, and important skills for safe rowing.

  • Potential to learn sweep rowing (1 oar per person) and sculling (2 oars per person).

  • Build a base level of fitness

Novice Rowers

Varsity Rowers

  • Fine-tune rowing technique, blade work, and boat moving skills.

  • Row in all boat sizes, sweep and sculling, and on port and starboard.

  • Continue to build aerobic and anaerobic fitness.

Coxswains

  • Steers the boat.

  • Executes all practices and race plans.

  • The link between the coaches and rowers.

  • Becomes the "brain" of the boat.
